πŸ–ΌοΈMedia Module

This module provides a set of tools to display (or play) various kinds of uploaded content: images, slides, audio, websites.

Why Content Display

Every given workshop requires some content to be shown to participants. It could be a presentation, a set of prompts, or a video.

Many experiences need specific visuals or sounds to be placed in the space. For example, a photo gallery, a small hints for a scavenger hunt, an ambient music in the meditation area.

Different Kinds of Content Displays

There are several kinds of Content Displays. All of the behave in a very similar general manner, however there are (sometimes subtle) differences on how the content is presented.

All Content Displays are Placeable, which means all of them can be resized. However, Slide Screens and Photo Frames differ in quality of the content they display.

How Content Display Works

  1. Content Displays are Placeable Artifacts.

    • They are spawned and positioned in the space.

    • Different artifacts have different starting sizes.

    • Displays can be resized.

  2. Content Display is assigned one of the Content Folders.

    1. The assignment is kept until the Display is dismantled or reconfigured.

    2. If the folder contains more than one file or page, the Display can be set to a particular page.

  3. When selected with β€˜laser hands’, the following controls are provided in the HUD.

    1. Choose folder control that opens a modal dialog.

    2. Prev / Next controls to scroll through folders.

    3. Volume controls for the Loudspeaker and Video.

    4. Assign Channel control that opens a modal dialog.

    5. Assign Plane control that opens a modal dialog.

    6. Controls are only visible to β€˜facilitator’ role.

Content Display Artifacts

Slide Screen and Photo Frame

Two most useful and most used artifacts are the Slide Screen and Photo Frame. Both of them are capable of showing images and PDF slide deck.

The difference is in image quality:

  • Slide Screen is designed to show high-resolution imagesβ€”to make slides readable. The price paid is that there can only be a couple of screens visible at the same time. Two or three screens are enough for most cases. The limitation doesn’t apply to screens that are far away from each other, or divided by a wall.

  • Photo Screen presents images in lower resolution but has no limit on how many photos can be placed and seen at the same time.

Audio Speakers

Music or audio effects are played by Audio Speakers. The look like loud speakers and work in the way you would expect.

Audio Speakers can be used to introduce ambient soundscape into worlds. For that, the speaker should be small enough in size to be hidden inside of a tree, a wall or simply under the floor.

360Β° Globes

Globes are used to display panoramic images.

There are two kinds of Globes:

  • Placeable Globe β€” works as a decoration, can be resized and moved by the Decorator Tool.

  • Handheld Globe β€”Β small globe that can be held in a hand and shared with others. Can’t be resized.

Web Screen

Web Screen is an artifact that looks like a Slide Screen but instead of slides or images embeds a web browser.

NB: Due to technical limitation, Mac App Store version of the app can’t work with the Web Screens properly. If such functionality is needed, the app should be downloaded from the Morpheus official website. See Our Apps section.
